Flight of The Scamper is a hero’s journey and a coming of age story. It’s about growing, taking personal responsibility, and being willing to not only go beyond your comfort level, but to risk everything in order to do the right thing.
Charlie is a young chimpanzee being boarded at an animal sanctuary. He and a few of the other animals wake up one morning to discover they have suddenly become self aware, have learned language, and can communicate with one another. More than anything, they are asking questions, namely… Who did this to them? And WHY?
They receive the answer in the form of a plea for help. A group of refugees from another galaxy desperately needs the animals to save their lives while evading their enemies, avoiding interplanetary war, and absolutely not alerting the humans who believe they run the planet Earth. How will they do this? Among other things, they have to learn to fly an airplane (which the animals intend to “borrow” from a neighboring crop duster).
Charlie is afraid that he can’t do it and that he will let everyone down. As the animals pull together to rescue the crew of The Scamper, they learn about themselves and teamwork, face danger together, and become close friends.
